Some of you will eventually have some problems. Possible ressources: Installing Solfege, Sound setup, Mailing Lists and Solfege on Win 32 (if you for some reason want to try to build the windows installer yourself. Hint: you don't.)

Stable release: Solfege 3.14.5

This is the recommended release for end users.

• Windows installer. Sourcecode of the precompiled programs included in the binary are available here.
• Autopackage package This is a linux binary installer that will work on most i386 linux distributions. It is compiled for Python 2.4, but it will work for most people running Python 2.5 if you just ignore a few warnings.
• Mandriva 2008.1: RPM packages for Mandriva i586. Instructions to configure the repository.
• Solfege on MacOSX works now.
• Source tarball

Nightly builds

A buildbot creates a source tarball of the latest code from the bzr repository. We hope to add autopackage and MS Windows binary builds. Download nightly builds here.

Extra programs

GNU Solfege can make use of some external programs for special features. These programs are not required for most of the exercises, but some people will probably want to install them.

These programs are usually included on your linux distribution. On debian or Ubuntu, just to apt-get install timidity mma csound lilypond to install all these programs.

Installing timidity on MS Windows

Download http://www.aboutmidi.com/midisoftware/timidity.exe from http://www.aboutmidi.com/timidity/

As "Midi file player" on the preferences window you should enter c:\timidity\timidity.exe or c:\timidity\MidiPlay.bat. Adjust the path if you install timidity elsewhere. The .bat file will set some options setting reverb etc, and will give a little different sound.

Installing MMA on MS Windows

Download WinMMA. If you install it in c:\MMA (or a different drive, but in the MMA folder) Solfege will find it easier and have the choice available in the preferences window. If you install it elsewhere, you have to enter the full path to the mma.bat file.

Stay tuned for 3.13.0 for an easy way to use http://www.mellowood.ca/mma/mma-bin-1.4.tar.gz if you don't want to install the big WinMMA package.

Installing CSound on MS Windows

Download CSound from sourceforge.net. Most versjons should work. I have tested 5.09 and 5.10.
