    • the use of point&click in music fragments
    • colored noteheads, note shapes
    • development of different ways to notate stuff (for example the content of an interval: write all diatonic steps, indicate tones and semitones
  • + faster 'time to market' than XML
  • + all teachers use the same music syntax, no troubles with Sibelius' poor XML output for example.

  • - win32 portability is terrible, no option until Lilypond would get more portable/librarified
    • watch Lilypond closely now that it is possible to compile it without the TeX backend
